I am a Research Manager at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY (about 23 miles north of Manhattan). I manage a group called Operation Insight that is part of IBM's Services Research. In general, Services Research is closely aligned with IBM Global Services. More particularly, my group focuses on research problems around the operational side of service delivery, namely:

  • cloud enablement, integrated management, and optimization of data centers---looking at various levels of the application and system stack;
  • applications of emerging technologies (e.g., social networking), data mining, and knowledge management in enterprise space;
  • also, continue to be active in the area of operating systems and computer networks.


The truth is that I enjoy both the research and development aspects of working at Watson Research. I get to explore many research ideas and work with amazing researchers on cutting-edge technologies.

I have completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. My Ph.D. focused on the integration of intelligent controls in computer networks and operating systems to enhance the efficiency, usability, and security of computing environments. Before that, I completed my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, where I worked on data streaming over ATM networks. Even before that, I did my undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
